Nuthatch (Sitta europaea)

The nuthatch stands out because of its black eye stripe. This stripe runs from its pointy, dark beak across the eyes.

His plumage is blue-grey on the upperparts and orange-red on the underparts. The throat stands out clearly from the rest of the plumage due to its white colour. Males and females look alike.

Nuthatches live in forests and settlements and feed on insects and seeds. They are resident birds and short-distance migrants and can therefore be found here all year round.
